Truly Amazing. Perhaps premature. What a week to have. Over seeing your country's failed bid in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the Olympic Games in 2016, then hearing that in Oslo, Norway, you have just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Why? The citation reads "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples". Remember that nominations closed two weeks after Senator Obama became president. Nice work, if you can get it. Read the Times report.
We do live in interesting times.

Seems extraordinary, but I think the citation picks up the extraordinary measure of the man. Global warming, mideast peace, multilateral diplomacy, abolishing nuclear weapons, global values, on and on. Can't even imagine Bush/Clinton articulating extra-American goals. Broadening the thinking across the globe.
Buy Kofi, he hasn't accomplished any of those things yet, just increased the US executive branch's focus on the issues. Should they wait to see if he actually gets anything done instead of rewarding rhetoric as accomplishment?
Transformation by its nature can never be premature. President Obama has already changed the way mllions view the USA. Any image consultant would have charged a billion dollars for the make over. Fear not, there are other makeovers in progress. The 'eyes' are always blindsighted by curve balls.

P.S Mandela's work was done when he was in prison. Martin Luther's work was done when he was killed.
